VIGAN CITY ▬ In Vigan, restaurants have spread like wildfire. I mean, they've appeared in no time popping out like mushrooms. One reason I can relate to this is the booming tourism industry in Vigan.
In spite of the sprouting of the new dining places, there is still the old favorites and Cafe Uno would be a safe mention.
I was actually craving for the Vigan authentic dish pipian when my friend suggested to visit Cafe Uno hoping the restaurant serves such dish. We were not disappointed. We found it.
According to sir Nanie, co-owner/manager of the restaurant, their pipian here is a fusion dish. They intended to make the soup thinner because they want to serve this as ulam and not merienda.
Pipian is actually an Ilocano merienda dish but Cafe Uno put some twists. The taste? Good!
On the other hand, Cafe Uno's interior is one to beat. The classic elegance is an addition to the appetite. Its cool and pleasant interior makes dining here a great experience.
